1st September 2016
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: ESE
Wind Stength: F4
Surf / Sea State: flat / small waves
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 25kts ish (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 3 hrs (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Had the perfect evening sail, maybe one of my best sails at the dip on the low tide with nice swells rolling in, flat inside and only got big near river buoys. Gybes were regular off swell and blast out close reaching then letting rip down wind. Shame I forgot my GPS! Mid 20kts speed and 3 hours solid sailing. On arrival at 4 it was stiff breeze F4. Started rigging 7.8 then wind light so rigged 8.6 / 146L. Unfortunately wind returned so sailed over power all evening. Lord Swain was running his new North 8.2 X type, and it was definitely quick as I couldn't catch him in any direction. Very nice sail and matched to a Gold North 4.90 its def a winner.
Nick burst is kite so joined us windsurfing. No one else turned up and only 2 kites out on low tide, which is unusual. The sea roughed up more on low tide which was strange, but still spot on swells.
Went back to my seat harness and loved it. Will now use both seat and waist harness as they both have good points. Large sails in lightish winds has to be the seat harness for more power and drive. The waist hybrid is way more comfortable and not had back pain using it in rough waters. The seat gave me back ache tonight, but it could be just being overpowered for too long.
Not having the right Gaastra mast for this brilliant 8.6 Gaastra Savage is a pain. The compromise Unifiber 80% mast was far too soft in the strong wind, losing a fair bit of power. Why Gaastra thinks £600 for a mast is cool I don't know...
